I was living life very happily enjoying my youth, just like every other young person in my generation. Life was going very well with me winning award after award which lead to gaining exposure in newspapers and on television shows. I was well over the moon but during December I got given the worse news of my life, which was my diagnoses. When doctors told me I was shattered.
He is currently undergoing a 3 year course of chemotherapy but consultants at Tooting’s St. Georges Hospital are worried that he may need an unrelated bone marrow donor to save his life.
The ACLT Charity are hosting their annual bone marrow and blood recruitment session at Choice FM Studios (Global Radio) in Leicester Square on Saturday the 2nd June, between 11am till 4pm.
The hope is to find Dennis a matching donor. Although this is an appeal on behalf of Dennis we want members of the general public to come along on the 2nd June to see if they could match anyone of any ethnicity awaiting a life saving donor.
Dennis has siblings but they unfortunately do not have the same matching bone marrow tissue. He is of Ghanaian descent and sadly there is a lack of awareness in the black and ethnic minority community and therefore a lack of donors.
At the present the ACLT have far too many people on their books awaiting matches. If you come down in June you won’t be just potentially helping Dennis find a matching donor, but you could be helping people currently on the waiting list and those in the future. It will make a life saving difference to so many patients and their loved ones. Dennis adds,
My point is it could happen to anyone of us so please come down and register you never know who would need you to save them.
So please tell a friend to tell a friend to come down to Choice FM on June 2nd to help Dennis and many others that are waiting for a bone marrow match.
