E2E: Spirit of London school talk in Newham
Last Monday (16th January) E2E teamed up with The Spirit of London Awards (SOLA) and visited Kingsford Community School in Newham, where various ambassadors gave talks and question and answer sessions to the Year 9 students.
SOLA is an amazing organisation which focuses on promoting and celebrating role models who positively influence the London youth community. This ranges across many fields from business to music. On the day ambassadors included the renowned “new face of youth cinema” Adam Deacon (Kidulthood, Adulthood and Anuvahood) who caused a craze within the school pupils – particularly the girls! Adam came from a Hackney estate upbringing and proved to all the students that through hard work he has built up a very successful acting career for himself. Adam is now being nominated for a BAFTA and the E2E team and SOLA are supporting him every step of the way!

Other influential guests included J-Sol – a very talented singer, songwriter and dancer who was nominated for the Acheivement Through Music award last year performed on the day, Jessica Louise Elliott– who won the business award in 2010, for opening a number of dance schools across London and Kay-J Simmons who is an influential actor, musician, producer and children’s rights representative – who was also nominated for an award last year.
Thanks to the SOLA team for kindly letting us be involved in the school tour and interview their ambassadors back stage – keep your eye out for pictures and interview videos with all of them and even some students giving their opinions on the day! SOLA proves that much of our London youth community are talented, hard workers with passion and drive. Check them out!
