Manolo Blahnik wins the outstanding achievement award at this year’s British Fashion Awards.

Manolo Blahnik, the legendary shoemaker will be taking home this years Outstanding Achievement Award at the British Fashion Awards, which will take place on November 27. The recipient of the most prestigious award from the event, is recognised for their outstanding work and impact throughout their career, and is voted for by leading journalists and retailers.

Caroline Rush, chief executive of the BFC said: “It is with great pleasure that we announce Manolo Blahnik as the recipient of this year’s Outstanding Achievement in Fashion award. Throughout his career he has contributed so much, not only to British fashion but also internationally, he has a worldwide cult following and this is true testament to his enduring talent and success.”

Manolo Blahnik started his career in 1965, but the iconic Diana Vreeland was the one who convinced him to focus on footwear. His name is recognised globally as one of the best designer brands for shoes. Of receiving his award, Blahnik said: “It is a great honour to be receiving this award from the British Fashion Council,” the designer commented. “To be recognised for doing something I love is really wonderful.”

Last years winner was Paul Smith.
