Chris Dave and The Drumhedz Mixtape

Have you ever wondered what it feels like to enter into a realm of transcendence? Well, this is the closest you are going to get. If there’s one thing that is going to make your week, it is this mixtape. Wondering who Chris Dave is? Let me rack your brains a little. A few months back, I reviewed the Robert Glasper Experiment’s show at the London Jazz Festival. Yes, you’ve got it – Chris Dave is RGE’s drummer, and pretty much a genius. He has worked with the likes of Adele, Maxwell, Toni Braxton and many more. No one can rip a hi-hat like Chris “Daddy” Dave.

Chris Dave and the Drumhedz are a collective of world-renowned musicians that constantly alternate. The Drumhedz could consist of the following: saxophonist, key player, bassist and guitarist. However the only staple musician in this line up is Chris Dave. Sick, right?

So, of course Chris Dave had to bless us with a mixtape showcasing the Drumhedz skills. Entitled Chris Dave and the Drumhedz, the mixtape features an array of artists, including Sy Smith, Yasiin Bey (formerly known as Mos Def), Aaron Camper, Stokley Williams and many more. No track on the tape is the same as Chris Dave shows his ability to adapt to any musical setting he finds himself in, whether it be R&B, Soul, Jazz or Hip Hop.

I hate to dampen the situation, but with Valentine’s Day approaching, this has to be the perfect soundtrack for a candlelit dinner and cosy night in with your boo. And for those (like me!) who are spending it alone, no worries. You can make this mixtape your boo!

Chris Dave is probably the most dangerous drummer alive. He is totally reinventing just what you can do with drums.

You can find out exactly what he means by downloading this from Chris Dave’s website.
