Missy Elliott - The Rain (Supa Dupa Fly)

Throwback Thursday – sounds familiar right?! I know you guys have been participating in “TBT” on your Instagrams and digging up all those old photos from the 90s! Well, at E2E we’ve decided to do just the same! Every thursday we will be travelling back in time and delivering you an old school banger!

Now as you all know, Justin Timberlake‘s new album The 20/20 Experience has been produced solely by the one and only Timbaland. However, there’s been a lot of debate about whether Timbo is still on top of his game. (Some people have even gone as far as saying that 20/20 is audio-proof of a mid-life crisis!).

Although I am absolutely loving 20/20, I have to say – I miss 90s Timbo with all my heart. So for this week’s throwback, I thought it only right to pay homage to the Timbo we all know and love. In my opinion, there’s no other track that could do this better than Missy Elliott‘s ‘The Rain (Supa Dupa Fly)’.

So here it is guys! And just to add – the video for ‘The Rain’ was directed by the one and only Hype Williams. I mean, come on. Hype Williams along with a Missy and Timbo collab? Cameos from Lil’ Kim, 702, Da Brat and more? You can’t get more 90s than that!

I am a 21 year old writer and university student. I specialise in wrting non-fiction as well as poetry. I live and breathe music - Hip Hop and R&B/Soul to be exact. I'm also a lover of Literature and Black Studies. I love travelling as well, and my dream is to live in New York as it is my favourite place (right after my hometown, London). I also volunteer in my spare time, working with and mentoring sixth form students as they put their hands to making a change in their local communities. There's nothing better than seeing the youth from my area making changes for the next generation to enjoy - and it is an honour to help make that happen.
