Belgium came back from a 1 goal deficit to beat Algeria 2-1.
Belgium seen as one of the favourites to win this world cup really impressed today, as they came back from a goal down to beat a strong Algerian team 2-1.
Belgium started off strong when Axel Witsel took a shot and was saved. However, that changed when Jan Vertonghen brought down Sofiane Feghouli in the box, Algeria were given a penalty and Vertonghen a yellow card.
Feghouli put Algeria one goal up when he converted the penalty into the centre of the goal.
Belgium were getting close to receiving a goal, Chadli taking many shots and Belgium receiving many free kicks and pressing unto the Algerian defence.
Belgium finally got back into the game when Belgium received a corner and the substitute Maruane Fellaini assisted by De Bruyne.
Belgium finally got in front when Dries Mertens’ right footed shot hit the top right top corner of the net.
Full time score was 2-1 giving Belgium a good first day and showing a very good comeback spirit.
