The Netherlands have beaten World Cup champions Spain 5-1.
One of the biggest shocks have come early in the World Cup as The Netherlands beat Spain 5-1 topping Group B.
The night began when Diego Costa was fouled in the box by Stefan de Vrij, gifting Spain a penalty and an opportunity to kick start their World Cup in the right path. Xabi Alonso slotted the penalty home to give Spain the lead and break the deadlock.
Then 1 minute before half-time the Netherlands got back in the game in the 44th minute when Daley Blind played an overhead long ball finding a hungry Robin Van Persie, who scored a 15 yard header catching Iker Casillas of his line to put Holland back into the game.
After half time the Dutch squad busted into life when under 10 minutes into the second half Blind played another long pass which found Arjen Robben, he gets past Gerard Pique and fired past Casillas to send Spain into the lead.
Holland were on fire, again in the 64th minute de Vrij headed home from a Wesley Sneijder cross.
Spain were having a nightmare, when Casillas lost possession of the ball after a back pass and Van persie tapped the ball into the back of the net.
However, the Spanish misery wasn’t over because the Netherlands found one more goal through Robben firing the ball into the back of the net to fire Holland into the lead.
