Last Thursday I went down to the Young Black Graduates UK (YBG) launch event, it was an informative evening filled with success stories from graduates and finalists.

Young Black Graduates is an organisation created by four young women for young black individuals in the UK. They aim to create networking and career events for young black graduates as well as empowering and educating those on the come up about the opportunities that are available once they graduate from university.

The launch event took place at the Missouri Angel in the City of London and featured games as an icebreaker, a panelist session with current students and students past that have a lot going for them. The stories on the night were inspirational and the advice given by the panel was brilliant. There was an array of graduates and undergraduates in regards to the industries they were all looking to go into such as law, finance and fashion.

Overall it was a great evening with the drinks and chatter flowing. There was a great turnout for the first event – that I had just heard about the night before through a friend. Mostly it was great to see young people willing to share their experiences and knowledge about their career choices and how they have got there or aim to get there.

To find out more about YBG and any future networking events, join their Facebook group or simply follow them on Twitter.
